About Us
Hi! I'm Alex, the developer of Mugi. I'm from the US and moved to Japan in 2015 through the JET Program. After that I joined Mercari, where I worked as a translator and later got into software. I'm now a solo developer and writer trying to help people learn Japanese and live fulfilling lives abroad.
Moving to Japan changed my life. It's a country with amazing opportunities for international residents, but language is still a barrier. I'm creating Mugi to help as many people as possible overcome that barrier, but in a more fun and sustainable way.

This is Mugi, the real one! Aside from being Alex's boss, she's the inspiration for the app's name and mascot. She's been a loyal companion during long study sessions, late nights coding, and everything in between.
